Love Senor Moose! The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's over priced for what it is. It's hard to leave without paying over $20, which just doesn't feel quite right in a dive, but I guess they have to pay their Ballard rent. I still go back regularly because it's definitely some of the best Mexican food I have had in Seattle. OK, you're right, I love it and I shouldn't fault them for the skyrocketing real estate costs in Seattle, I'm upping it back to five stars.
They nail the basics - salsa is home made, chips are fried in house, guacamole is superb, micheladas of my dreams. Beyond the basics their mains are also incredible - my favorite is definitely the machaca con huevos with fresh avocado on top. Chilaquiles are also outstanding, especially with a fried egg on top and half red half green salsa. -

Everyone must be drunk because the food is very mediocre. The salsa bland and they can't figure out how to seat people properly. The chips are the highlight. Best Mexican food???? Nah not even close.

I came to Senor Moose Cafe hoping that I'd finally have some great Mexican food in Seattle and I wasn't entirely disappointed. I thought the dish I ordered was yummy but it didn't amaze me. I don't think I ordered the most interesting item on the menu though so I would definitely come back to try other dishes - such as the chilaquiles. Overall though the meal was good but not great.

We arrived around 5:30pm with a party of 8 and got seated at a foldout table in the back next to the bar, against a wall, which was impossible to interact. Service was okay, not overly warm or welcoming. I ordered the Maji maji (fish) dish, it was mediocre at best. Be weary of the kids meals. The beef was inedible so I'd go with avocado or maybe try the chicken. My husband got the carne Asada and that was okay.
I tried the house red wine, don't know what it was but not the best. -

4th time and still awesome!!! In my top 5 of "last meal on earth" choices!!! Still totally worth ferry trip and annoying Lyft ride!!!!
